Introduction

Marine Engineering refers to Engineering related to Ships. Everyone thinks, "Whats there to control in a ship? Just an IC engine? A rudder? Hell its even easy to control than a car, without brakes and clutch." Well then i hate to tell you, you are wrong. There is more to Marine Engineering than you think. Everyone sees the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean" & thinks, "Hey, all you have to do is lower the main sail & the ship goes forward...as easy as that." But have you ever thought, what if the wind is blowing in the opposite direction you want to go to? No use of the main sail there. This is where the need for Marine Engineering comes in.
Over the centuries, Marine Engineers have perfected the ships from rowing to using steam engines to now IC engines. Marine Engineering has an extreme demand, yet there are very less people volunteering to enter it. Did you know, that Merchant Shipping is the lifeblood to the world economy carrying about 90% of international trade with a total commercial worldwide ships of 1,02,194?
Marine Engineers are required on a ship, mainly to keep the propeller running and for maintenance of the ship's engine. Why, you ask? Well suppose you are driving your car, & the engine stops running, all you do is call a engineer, tow your car to the nearest garage. But suppose a ship's engine stops running in the middle of the sea, you cannot call to the nearest port n ask for a tow-ship. A Marine Engineer has to repair the engine, in the middle of the sea, with waves of ocean rocking the ship, making it nearly impossible to work. Sometimes you have to work day & night, without sleep, or even food, to get the engine repaired, coz there are only a few number of people even on a very big ship, and the shipment has to reach within the time given by the company.
Well but that's just in case your engine fails, otherwise its a very exciting, thrilling, dangerous n life-changing job. Once you become Marine Engineer, even you yourself don't know how you became this new person. Its not just the uniform that makes us stand out in a crowd, but also a different attitude & personality. Marine Engineering is not just a job, its an adventure everyday, out in the sea. You get to visit many countries & meet different people, & I need not tell about the earnings...
But, to become a Marine Engineer, one must go through an intense training. A training which actually changes your life, makes you ready to face the world. Survive that, you survive out in the sea...

    1. You can apply whenever you want. Now is a good time to apply, so that even if you dont get it now, you can atleast know the procedures n prepare more for next time. And for english, you can show your diploma marks, some companies may allow it.
